Web Design / E-Commerce

Urban Pantry

A specialty grocery store needed an online storefront that matched the quality of their in-person experience.

Context

The Client

Urban Pantry is a curated specialty grocery store in Los Angeles, known for locally sourced products and artisanal goods. They wanted to replicate their in-store shopping experience online and reach customers beyond their neighborhood.

Constraints

The Challenge

Tight 4-week timeline for a holiday season launch. Complex product catalog with hundreds of SKUs, variants, and dietary tags. Needed seamless integration with their existing inventory management system.

Approach

Strategy, Design & Build

Strategy

Chose Shopify for speed of launch and built-in multi-channel selling. Structured the catalog around shopping occasions and dietary preferences rather than generic categories.

Design

Warm, editorial photography-led design. Focus on large product imagery, minimal UI chrome, and a seamless cart experience optimized for mobile — where 70% of traffic would come from.

Build

Custom Shopify theme with optimized Liquid templates. Integrated with inventory API for real-time stock sync. Set up abandoned cart email flows, Google Shopping feed, and Facebook pixel.
